Controller-Property Management/Real Estate Controller

This is a hands-on role where you will play a critical part in overseeing the financial operations of our real estate portfolio. Role Overview:
The Property Management/Real Estate Controller will manage the accounting and financial reporting for multiple real estate entities, with a particular focus on month-end and year-end close processes, job costing, and financial oversight. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in real estate and property management accounting, including construction and engineering experience. You will be managing a team of three and working directly with both the CFO and the Facilities and Leasing Manager to ensure smooth financial operations and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Oversee all aspects of month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.
- Job Costing: Oversee job costing for property management projects, including tracking expenses and ensuring proper allocation across entities.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed financial reports, including balance sheets, P&L statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
- Property Management & Real Estate Oversight: Oversee the financials for the real estate portfolio, including leasing, tenant accounts, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Staff Management: Supervise a team of three accounting professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in daily operations.
- Collaboration: Work directly with the CFO and Facilities and Leasing Manager to provide accurate financial data and insights for decision-making.
- Sage 300 (Timberline): Use Sage 300 (Timberline) for financial reporting and job costing, ensuring efficient and accurate system usage for all financial processes.
- Multiple Entities: Manage the financials of multiple entities within the family office, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting.
Qualifications:
- Real Estate/Property Management Experience: Must have significant experience in property management and real estate accounting.
- Job Costing Experience: Experience in job costing within the construction or engineering industry, with the ability to track costs and allocate them properly across projects.
- Sage 300 (Timberline): Proficiency with Sage 300 (Timberline) or similar accounting software is required.
- Staff Management: Experience managing a small team and the ability to provide direction and support.
- Strong Accounting Knowledge: In-depth understanding of accounting principles, including month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and job costing.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with leadership and external stakeholders.
- Multiple Entity Experience: Experience working with multiple entities, particularly in a real estate or property management context, is preferred.

Salary: $130-$140k
